Incidence of Chlamydia infection

In 2006, 113,585 new cases of Chlamydia were reported in the United Kingdom.1

Although it affected all age groups and both men and women, women and the young were the groups more commonly infected.1

New diagnoses of Chlamydia 2005

Initial data from the first two phases of the National Chlamydia Screening Programme, which offers opportunistic screening to sexually active men and women under 25, shows a very high disease burden, with 10% of all results positive.2
