The STI incidence figures for 2005 show that the numbers of new cases of STI diagnosed in the United Kingdom have continued to rise, to a total of 790,387 – an increase of 3% over the year.1

Of the major STIs, Chlamydia remains far and away the most common, with a 5% increase, to 109,832 new cases reported.1
